New Delhi- The NSUI hunger strike at Delhi University today entered into its fifth day amidst worsening condition of the vounteers participating in the strike and University administration continuing with its lacklusture attitude. One of the participant, Guru Gopal Singh had to be admitted to the hospital yesterday night due to deterioration of health condition.
Meanwhile the health conditions of Karishma Thakur and other protesters is also deteriorating fast and if no prompt timely action is taken by the officials, they might also have to be admitted in the hospital soon.
The lack of any action on the rollback has now shown the true face of BJP, which had earlier included the rollback as an important point in their election manifesto when appealing for votes. However, now that they have are in power, it is now clear that those were only words without any substance. Atleast for the purpose of larger good of the students, they should have come and joined the hunger strike after forgetting all the political differences. Also, i must mention that it has been nearly a month since the BJP government took over at the Centre and no decision has been made by the HRD ministry over the rollback of FYUP. Not to mention that it was one of the major poll promises of the BJP in its manifesto. The lack of any action just reflects the fact that BJP and VC of DU are now working hands in hand at the backdoor level and the public statements made by BJP and ABVP are just farce statements
The student leaders participating in this hunger strike are
1. Karishma Thakur DUSU Secretary
2. Vikash Chikara NSUI Delhi State President
3. Varun Khari Ex- VP DUSU
4. Vishal Chaudhary Ex DUSU President Candidate
5. Upinder Godara NSUI Activist
6. Guru Gopal Singh NSUI Activist (Hospitalized yesterday night due to deterioration of health condition)
7. Lokesh Chugh NSUI Activist
The Protest is led by Mohit Sharma, NSUI National General Secretary and Delhi State in-charge.
