CRPF CELEBRATES 77th  ANNIVERSARY

New Delhi : The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) celebrated its 77th Anniversary. The Anniversary Parade was organized at Group Centre, CRPF, Kadarpur, Gurgaon. Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, Minister of State for Home graced the occasion as Chief Guest and took salute.  In the spectacular Parade, commanded by Sh Suraj Pal Verma, Commandant,  eight  contingents marched past majestically with the band tunes of CRPF. The main attraction of the parade was Quick Drill/UAC by Mahilas, Martial art Wushu and  Dog show. The dogs (Belgian Shepherd Malinois) put up a rare show of  attack under adverse conditions.

On this occasion Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir presented President’s Police Medal for Gallantry to 2 CRPF personnel and  President’s Police Medal for Distinguished service to 8 Officers and Men.

He also gave away Best Operational Bn Trophies to 215 Bn for LWE theatre, 110 Bn for J&K theatre and 147 Bn for NE theatre.  205 Bn was declared best CoBRA unit. Best Group Centre Trophy was awarded to Group Centre, Pune, while RTC Neemuch was declared Best Training Institute. The Minister of State for Home also released “Naman”, a compendium of 4 volumes on martyrs.

Praising the spectacular Parade, the Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir Minister of State for Home said that he felt honored to be the chief guest of the Parade.  Recounting the historic feats of gallantry of CRPF he said that the Force has not only established peace in the country but also abroad, wherever it was deployed. It bore the brunt of Chinese and Pakistani attacks and repulsed them despite many odds. Their sacrifice has become source of inspiration to all of us.  He said that CRPF is maintaining law & order, providing security during elections to combating Maoism, terrorism and insurgency. The Minister of State for Home emphasized on the modernization of the Force and said that for this a comprehensive plan has been prepared.  He also said that the govt. is committed to the welfare of CRPF personnel and priority is being given to such proposals.   

Welcoming the Chief Guest,K Durga Prasad, DG CRPF said that CRPF is the sentinel of democracy. Till date the Force has been decorated with 1526 gallantry medals. The record 101 gallantry medals were awarded to the officers and men in 2015. He said that during last year 114 Maoists/Militants/Insurgents and apprehended 1813.  The DG said that we are trying to modernize the Force and modern technology and weapons are being inducted to strengthen the operational capability of the Force.  He said that sanction for construction of 10,331 additional family quarters and 55 barracks has been accorded by the govt.  Shri K Durga Prasad also presented a memento to the chief guest.
