After Coronavirus, Orthohantavirus or Hantaviruses appears in China, One man died due to Orthohantavirus

Coronavirus is still spreading around the world and many deaths are being reported, meanwhile is a report of one death due to Orthohantavirus or Hantaviruses in China. According to the reports by China’s English tabloid, Global Times, on Monday, China reported an outbreak of a deadly viral disease caused due to infection of Orthohantavirus or Hantaviruses.

According to the report, one person from Yunnan Province died on his way to Shandong Province for work. He was travelling in the chartered bus carrying other 32 people. Other people were also tested by the authorities. This news might be a warning sign to the health authorities in China and the world.

The report of death due to the Orthohantavirus created panic among the people and there are so many discussions about this virus on social media websites.

The Orthohantavirus or Hantaviruses are a family of deadly viruses mainly spread through rodents. This virus causes disease which event leads to death, moreover the symptoms similar to the Coronavirus.

The Hantaviruses in the Americas are called “New World” hantaviruses which are responsible for causing the hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS). This virus is mostly found in Europe and Asia; and may cause hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) if a person is infected with this disease.

The major concern is that the symptoms are similar to the current  COVID-19 Coronavirus, the common symptoms include  fever, headache, abdominal pain among others.

This virus is not passed from one person to another but infect a healthy person if he/she touches their eye, nose or mouth after touching the rodent droppings including urine, or nesting materials. This virus also infect a healthy person via inhalation of aerosolized virus that is shed in urine, feces, and saliva, and less.

The appearance of Orthohantavirus or Hantaviruses is another major concern to the health authorities in China and other parts of the world.
