Election commission announces the dates for Lok Sabha 2019 Elections

Election commission of Indian Today, announces the dates and plan for 2019 Lok Sabha elections in the country. The Lok Sabha 2019 elections for to be held between April 11 and May 19 in 7 phases., Elections commission announced Today in New Delhi.

The Election Commission announced the dates for the Lok Sabha 2019 Elections in a Press Conference today at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. Elections will be held for 543 seats at around 10 lakh polling stations across the country in India. Today announcement were made for assembly elections in Sikkim, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh.

For this election 10 lakh polling stations would be setup as compared to 9 lakh in 20014 general elections. Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said that the model code of conduct now came into immediate effect after the announcement of poll dates.
The counting of votes will start on May 23 and on the same day results will be announced.

Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said the ‘voter verifiable paper audit trail’ (VVPAT) will be used this time in all the polling stations in the country.

Elections will be conducted in 7 Phases; here are the details of each phase:

The model of conduct is already enforced from today with the announcement of polling dates.  During this period no posters or advertisement of any political party will be screened in the country. Elections Commissions have released their own application for this purpose.
