Harmony OS, Huawei’s own operating system for various devices revealed

Dongguan, China: Huawei the Chinese mobile phone manufacturing company revealed its own mobile operating system today. Company names its Harmony OS, which was in developed phase and was in rumors for last few years. Finally company officially revealed about this new Operating System which can run on several devices. This operating system is decouples Operating system from OS so that it can run on many different types of devices.

Company officially announced about Harmony OS in the city of Dongguan, China. Company started working fast after the trade the U.S. trade ban on the Chinese technology companies. Off the shelf Harmony OS do not provide support for running the Android based, but Android application can be ported to Harmony OS. Still there no more information about as to how Android applications can be ported to Harmony OS.

Huawei still not showed the demo of Harmony OS. Company will show the demo of Harmony OS on the Honor Vision TV tomorrow.

Company will still keep on using the Android operating system on its mobile devices. As per the Huawei statement, company will release version 2.0 of its microkernel will be released next year. The version 3.0 of Harmony OS will arrive in 2021.

Google is developing its mobile operating system the Fuchsia OS, which is microkernel based. Similarly the Harmony OS is also microkernel based. According to Huawei the Fuchsia OS uses “non-distributed design,” The Harmony OS uses a “deterministic latency engine” that provides “precise resource scheduling with real-time load analysis and forecasting and app characteristics matching.” According to Huawei new Harmony OS provides 25.7% and 55.6% improvement in response latency and latency fluctuation respectively.

As per the company claim Harmony OS is designed and developed for fast interprocess communication which increases the performance of the applications running of the Harmony OS.

Huawei will provide software development toolkit for developers to compile applications developed in multiple languages like C/C++, Java, and Kotlin for Harmony OS. Company will also bring Application Development Integrated Environment (IDE) for developers for easy application development for multiple platforms including televisions, car kits, smart speakers, smartphones, smartwatches, and many more.

Company will release more information about the OS in this week at Huawei’s Developer Conference.

The Harmony OS is expected to give competition of Android Operating system of Google and if U.S. trade  ban continues  Huawei may start using its own Harmony OS for running mobile devices.
