“Our call of tractor march to Parliament still stands. A final decision on the future course of the agitation and MSP issues will be taken in a meeting of the SKM at Singhu Border on Sunday,” said Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) core committee member Darshan Pal. 

The SKM, a farmer's umbrella organisation, had previously declared that 500 farmers will take part in peaceful tractor marches to Parliament every day of the winter session, beginning November 29. Farmers are still unsure about the tractor march, despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement that the farm regulations will be repealed in response to farmer protests along Delhi's borders.

The SKM applauded the government's stance but stated that it would wait for the statement to be implemented through proper parliamentary procedures.

The tractor march has not been cancelled, according to Joginder Singh Ugrahan, president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ugrahan).“The SKM will decide on the call for a tractor trolly march to Parliament. So far, there is no call to withdraw it. A decision on this is likely to be taken on Sunday after the SKM's core committee meeting,” Ugrahan said. Despite the Prime Minister's declaration, farmer leader Sudesh Goyat was sceptical of the repeal of the three regulations.

“Farmers cannot trust the Centre on-farm laws as earlier too they had announced to give one rank one pension (OROP) but it is yet to be done. So, we have decided not to leave the site till these laws are formally repealed in Parliament. Mobilisation of farmers on Delhi borders on November 26 to mark the first anniversary of the agitation will continue,” farmer leader Sudesh Goyat told. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the repeal of three contentious farm regulations yesterday. The laws were, 

1. The Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, which is aimed at allowing trade in agricultural produce outside the existing APMC (Agricultural Produce Market Committee) mandis;

2. The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, which seeks to provide a framework for contract farming;

3. The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020, which is aimed at removing commodities such as cereals, pulses, oilseeds, edible oils, onion and potato from the list of essential commodities.

These laws were issued as part of the third tranche of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan to boost the economy amid the fight against Covid-19 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The three laws were adopted by the Union Cabinet, led by Modi, on June 3, 2020, in the form of ordinances.
