
Qualcomm has launched mobile processor 8 Elite Gen 5 and desktop processor Snapdragon X2 Elite. These processors are based on the 3nm processor, which claims to provide 35% CPU and 20% GPU improvements as compared to its predecessor. The company announced these products on September 25, 2025 to expand its mobile phone and desktop processors market.
The PC chip comes with a new feature that analysts say is the first of its kind. This technology will allow the chip to connect to the internet and install security updates even if the machine is shut down. The Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite laptop chip will start shipping next year.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite will include a new feature called Guardian and this chip is aimed at corporate laptops and desktops. This chip will be able to run Windows operating systems and is expected to give competition to existing processors in the market.

iQOO is also expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip in the flagship smartphone iQOO 15. This smartphone is expected to come with the premium features.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 claims to work faster on the heavy games as well. It comes with the enhanced app switching and longer game plays and all with high efficiency. This chip brings on-device AI capabilities in the upcoming premium smartphones.
Qualcomm is the top mobile phone chip maker, but for the last 2 years the company is pushing into the PC chip market. With its Snapdragon X2 Elite processors the company is expected to do well in the corporate pc and laptop market.
