In China, Xiaomi releases the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Xiaomi 12X.

At a press event in China on Tuesday, December 28, Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Xiaomi 12X.

On Tuesday, December 28, Xiaomi announced the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Xiaomi 12X at a press event in China. The Xiaomi 12 series has a hole-punch display with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection, triple back cameras, and a 5G connection, among other things. Xiaomi also announced MIUI 13, their latest custom ROM for smartphones and tablets, alongside the Xiaomi 12 series. 

The 8GB RAM + 128GB storage edition of the Xiaomi 12 costs CNY 3,699 (approximately Rs. 43,400). The phone is also available in an 8GB + 256GB model for CNY 3,999 (approximately Rs. 46,900) and a top-end 12GB + 256GB model for CNY 4,399 (about Rs. 46,900). (roughly Rs. 51,600).

The Xiaomi 12 Pro, on the other hand, starts at CNY 4,699 (approximately Rs. 55,100) for the 8GB + 128GB model. There's also an 8GB + 256GB variant for CNY 4,999 (approximately Rs. 58,600) and a top-of-the-line 12GB + 256GB model for CNY 5,399 (about Rs. 58,600). (roughly Rs. 63,300).

The 8GB + 128GB edition of the Xiaomi 12X costs CNY 3,199 (approximately Rs. 37,500). The phone also comes in an 8GB + 256GB model for CNY 3,499 (approximately Rs. 41,000) and a 12GB + 256GB model for CNY 3,799 (about Rs. 42,000). (roughly Rs. 44,500).

In terms of availability, the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Xiaomi 12X will all be available in China starting December 31, with pre-sales starting on Tuesday. Xiaomi has not yet said when the Xiaomi 12 series would be available in additional territories, including India.

Xiaomi 12 has a 6.28-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display and a 20:9 aspect ratio. It runs on Android-based MIUI 13. The Xiaomi 12 is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The Xiaomi 12 features a triple back camera array with a 50-megapixel primary. A 13-megapixel secondary sensor with an f/2.4 ultra-wide lens with a field of view of 123 degrees is also included in the camera arrangement. These are linked with a 5-megapixel macro camera, which is designed to capture minute objects and topics like seeds and flowers. On the front, the Xiaomi 12 has a 32-megapixel selfie camera sensor. On the storage front, Xiaomi 12 has up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 onboard storage. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, Infrared (IR), and a USB Type-C port. Sensors onboard include an accelerometer, ambient light, gyroscope, magnetometer, and proximity sensor. Xiaomi has packed Xiaomi 12 with a 4,500mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging and 50W wireless charging. The phone also has 10W reverse wireless charging support.

Xiaomi 12 Pro runs on MIUI 13 and features a 6.73-inch WQHD+ E5 AMOLED display. The display also has a 480Hz touch sampling rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. It also includes a low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) backplane technology that Apple uses on its premium iPhone models. The Xiaomi 12 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, coupled with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. On the part of photos and videos, Xiaomi 12 Pro carries a triple rear camera setup that houses a 50-megapixel primary Sony IMX707 sensor with an OIS-supported wide-angle f/1.9 lens, along with a 50-megapixel portrait sensor and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide shooter. The phone also carries a 32-megapixel selfie camera sensor at the front.

Xiaomi has provided up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, Infrared (IR), and a USB Type-C port. The Xiaomi 12 Pro packs a 4,600mAh battery that supports 120W fast wired charging. The phone also supports 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.

The Xiaomi 12X is a tweaked version of the Xiaomi 12. The smartphone features the same 6.28-inch display that is available on the regular Xiaomi 12. It also carries the identical triple rear camera setup and the same 4,500mAh battery. In terms of differences, the Xiaomi 12X is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC, which is paired with up to 12GB of RAM. The phone has up to 256GB of onboard storage.
