Republic Day 2020: India celebrates its 71st Republic day with grand parade

India celebrates its 71st Republic day with grand Republic day parade at Rajpath in New Delhi Today. This celebration of republic day is marked by several firsts, staring with the PM Modi paying homage to soldiers at National War Memorial instead of the Amar Jawan Jyoti. During the celebration India showcased Anti-Satellite Weapons system that was successfully tested in March last year.

Indian showcased US-made heavy lift Chinook and the anti-tank attack Apache helicopters during the Republic day parade today.

Republic Day 2020 celebration latest for one and a half hours, was witnessed by PM Modi and chief guest of this year’s parade, Brazilian president Jair Messias Bolsonaro. The President of India Ram Nath Kovind took the salute during the celebration of 71st Republic day.

Home minister Amit Shah, foreign minister S Jaishankar and human resources development minister Ramesh Pokriyal were present. Many dignitaries and diplomats of many countries witnessed the celebration of republic day.

During the celebration PM Modi met by newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff, Bipin Rawat, Indian Army chief Manoj Mukund Naravane, Navy Chief Karambir Singh and Air Force chief R.K.S. Bhadauria.

The National War Memorial was inaugurated last year by Modi, which has been built in the memory of brave solders who laid their lives for wellbeing of country after Independence.

This is the first time when PM Modi paid homage to soldiers at National War Memorial instead of the Amar Jawan Jyoti at the India Gate.

In the history of Republic day celebration this is the first time when a contingent of women bikers of paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force performed daredevil stunts.

The contingent of the Corps of Army Air Defence participated first time in the Republic Day parade, the Corps of Army Air Defence was recently awarded colours by the President of India.

India showcased Anti-Satellite Weapons (ASAT) system which was successfully tested in March to destroy Satellite. With this test India joined the exclusive club of nations, including the US, China and Russia, who possess the power to destroy Satellite using Anti-Satellite Weapons (ASAT) system.

The three helicopters each from the army, navy and Air Force each flying past the saluting dias in a “Tri-service formation."

During the republic day celebration India showcased three C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft and three C-17 Globemasters. Air Force also showcased airborne early warning capabilities during the celebration at India gate.
